Hier noch was Neues zum Album: Elton John Waiting for Leon Russell to Record Together
By: Roger Friedman // Tuesday January 19, 2010 This November will mark 40 years since Elton John and Leon Russell performed together at the Fillmore East in New York on November 20, 1970. This was right after Elton’s landmark live album, “11-17-70.” (Thanks to a couple of readers who pointed this out.) Soon the old friends will make a new CD together, if Russell’s health permits. I’m told Elton, collaborator Bernie Taupin, and Russell have composed about a dozen or so new tracks together. They’re planning on going into the studio together shortly to lay them down. T-Bone Burnett, on a roll right now with the score and soundtrack to “Crazy Heart” will be the producer. The only hitch: Russell has been in the hospital for some time suffering from brain fluid leak. He’s had brain surgery, and doctors are now considering another procedure to relieve the pressure in his head. But the prognosis is good, and Elton is looking forward to doing the project. He told me recently that Russell had been a huge influence on him when he was starting out. You can certainly hear it in Elton’s early style of singing, and on tracks like “Honky Cat,” “Take Me to the Pilot,” “Border Song,” and the remarkable “Tumbleweed Connection” album. So here’s a fervent Get Well to Leon Russell for a fast recovery, and release of the new album before the next Grammy deadline. This is one recording we really need, and soon! AMEN!!!!;-)
Elton John Can’t Wait To Reunite With Leon Russell
Wed, Jan 20 2010
I believe the last time they worked together was really in 1970 but not sure of the exact date. However they did so well together then that Elton John would love nothing more than to put out a new CD with his friend. He has been waiting on Leon because he had some health issues and the old friends decided that the CD will come when Russell’s health allows it. There is an unfortunate hitch though and that is that Russell has been in the hospital suffering from problems. He has had brain surgery and yet the star Elton John won’t do it alone, he is adamant about waiting and that’s exactly what he plans on doing. His comments were when Leon is ready we will do the CD and not sooner. The two friends make good music together and even though Elton is looking forward to them getting together he wants to make sure that Russell’s prognosis is good before they start doing the project.
Essentially Elton John will wait for as long as it takes but he is letting everyone know exactly what he is doing with his life long friend. You are really going to hear some of Elton’s early stages of singing but that’s what the two are striving for. Russell has a big influence on Elton John and he knows he will be good at keeping him on track and doing the right stuff.Right now he is waiting on hopefully a speedy recovery of his friend so they can be reunited in their music once again. And as stated before he will gladly wait to do the CD they have already planned to get together and do. This is essentially one recording they both could really use.
Dafür, dass Leon krank wurde, kann er ja wohl nichts. Die Songs sind geschrieben, die Aufnahmen werden demnächst (oder sind vielleicht schon) gemacht. Also das wird ganz sicher was.
Don't worry, be happy;-)
