Hab's getan, bin um ca. 20.30 Uhr ins Bett und um kurz nach 2 Uhr vorm PC gesessen. Mit dem Stream hat's auch wunderbar geklappt (Elton hat auch kurz gesprochen), nur haben die pünktlich zum Beginn der Union-Doku mit der Live-Übertragung aufgehört Später zum Elton-Konzert, also um 9.45 Ortszeit, würde wieder übertragen werden. Dadurch, dass ich ziemlich fit war (jetzt ist es schön langsam vorbei damit;D), war ich pünktlich um 3.45 Uhr wieder vorm PC, aber für ca. 20 weitere Minuten gab's weiter keine Übertragung. Als es wieder los ging, wurde auch schon Elton angekündigt. Er hat 6 Songs gespielt - offenbar mit eiskalten Händen und "frozen like a lollipop":): Tiny Dancer Rocket Man Gone To Shiloh Never Too Old I Guess That's Why.. Your Song Leider hat der Übertragung jegliche Live-Atmosphäre gefehlt, da der Ton ziemlich "stumpf" war und keinerlei Publikum zu hören oder zu sehen war (so, wie die Rocket-Aufnahmen klingen).
Absolut schade, dass die Doku nicht übertragen wurde. Lt. einem Bericht hat die Dauer des Films 90 Min. betragen. Hoffen wir, dass die Doku auf DVD rauskommt oder zumindest mal im Fernsehen gezeigt wird!!!
Hier ist ein kurzer Ausschnitt aus der The Union Doku. Kennt jemand von euch den Song, den man von 0:20 bis 1:12 im Hintergrund hört? Der ist soooo schöööööööööööööööön!
Dieses Interview ist sehr hörenswert. Nach den üblichen Anekdoten zur Entstehungsgeschichte von "The Union" kommt Elton auch auf sein Erweckungserlebnis im Zusammenhang mit dem Tod von Ryan White (1971-1990) zu sprechen: "That little boy saved my life." (Nach 22:43 min)
Die Union-Doku kommt ins Fernsehen (Pay-TV); allerdings erst Anfang 2012.
HBO will air Elton John-Leon Russell documentary 'The Union'

HBO Documentary Films has acquired the rights to the film "The Union," which follows the musical collaboration and friendship between Elton John and his longtime idol, Tulsa's own rock legend Leon Russell. According to various entertainment trade magazines and websites, such as Variety and Deadline, HBO plans to debut the documentary in January 2012. The film premiered at the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival. Directed by Cameron Crowe, the Oscar-winning writer and director of "Almost Famous," the film documents the musicians as they record their joint album, "The Union," which was released in 2010 and produced by T Bone Burnett. In March, John gave an emotional tribute to the Tulsa Sound icon before Russell was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. "Listen, he was my idol. To meet him, I was shaking," John said during the ceremony. "He sang, he wrote, and he played just how I wanted to do it." Die Deutschland-Konzerte im Juni haben sich offensichtlich positiv auf The Union ausgewirkt. Nachdem die ersten Konzerte stattgefunden haben war das Album bei Amazon.de um Position 200 zu finden, jetzt ist es wieder irgendwo im vierstelligen Bereich.

James Clark: Like your good-self, I am a huge Elton John fan and cannot wait to see your new documentary The Union. I’m so grateful to you for giving fans like myself an opportunity to see Elton (and Leon) doing ‘their thing’ in the studio. Why was “Mandalay Again” left off the main release? It’s such a beautiful song I actually think it’s one of Elton and Bernie’s best… ever! I’m assuming here that you were privy to the conversations that lead to it being left off the album and was hoping that you may be able to shed some light. I’d also love to hear your thoughts on the song.
Cameron: Like all of us who worked on the film, we loved “Mandalay Again.” LOVED the song. It was a surprise to us when Elton John decided that it didn’t quite fit in the specific tone of The Union. I think his reason was that it was a little too much in the “classic” vein of Bernie and Elton’s later work, and maybe not necessarily representative of the Union sessions as a whole. Glad he decided to release it as part of the deluxe edition of the album. We also loved the demos for many of the “Union” songs, and use “Never Too Old” in demo form quite liberally in the finished film. Nice question. To paraphrase Steely Dan, only a true fan could ask that.
Hier ist's nochmal ganz offiziell, Elton geht Mitte Januar ins Aufnahmestudio :D:D:D:D In mid-January Elton and Bernie make a welcome return to the recording studio in Los Angeles, again with producer T Bone Burnett, to record an album for release later this year.
Hey Leute...schaut euch mal den Link an...das Live Album soll im November erschienen sein.....kennt das Konzert jmd?? Am 29.01 kommt sogar noch die DVD raus....
Leider kenn ich das Konzert garnicht..war das Solo oder mit Band..??
Also ich denke, da gibt es nur 2 Möglichkeiten: Entweder es handelt sich um das Reggio Calabria Solo-Konzert vom 09.06.2004 oder um das "Promoting Peachtree Road Concert" in den MTV Studios in Mailand vom 29.09.2004. Da war ich live dabei!! Beide Konzerte wurden im italienischen TV gezeigt, allerdings nicht komplett.
