Besonders interessant finde ich das hier "...I’ve just been rehearsing Teenage Idol with the guys today – sounds great!" Und auf I Don't Wanna Go On.... werden wir wohl auch weiterhin nicht nicht live hören: ? I’m a huge fan of the song “I Don’t Wanna Go On With You Like That”. What was the reason he decided to stop playing it after the 2000 show at MSG? I think the mature voice he has today would fit nicely with the song.
! I think he just burnt out on the song as we played it for like 5 years straight. Great piano playing, but there’s only about 5 chord changes in a 5 minute song – a little wearing on the soul….I actually suggested we do it during a discussion of songs for this year – I can’t print his response. He’s just not that into the song anymore……for now at least.
Frage: We’ve been playing several shows around the east coast for the past 2 years and we do many covers of elton and billy. The response from the crowd from songs like Grey Seal, Old 67, Hello Hello, Paris, Restless, Harmony (All the rare songs really) is overwhelming. The crowds are a younger generation of Elton fans. With that being said why don’t you guys play any rare songs anymore? I think the reception of rare songs would be amazing. I understand that the last tour was a greatest hits tour. But i really truly believe that if you guys bring back some rare rockers that you would draw some more younger fans to shows!
Davey's Antwort: We are probably doing at least 2 of the songs you mentioned above, so the answer is : we DO stick in the more obscure songs occasionally, but you must understand, there’s a shitload of songs to get through.
John Jorgenson springt kurzzeitig für Davey ein: Happy to be back home in beautiful So Cal, but reflecting on what a great time I had In Europe. The Enschede Jazz Festival was amazing, beautiful stage, lighting, sound and audience as you can see in some of Erik's photos posted below. Our last show at the uber-cool Mystiek Theatre (think Tim Burton meets HGTV) ended the tour with a bang, super warm audience and so much fun jamming with the gifted guitarist Johnny Bernhard, who deserves special thanks for making our trip to Holland possible. Now I have to prepare for 2 nights with Elton John filling in for Davey Johnstone while he takes a little personal time off, then guesting on Peter Frampton's show in Austin 6/7, busy times but lots of fun!!
Finden Fans Dinge an Konzerten gut (z.
