Ein tolles Interview mit Elton im neuen Rolling Stone (dem englischen natürlich) über das neue Album und anderes. Sehr interessant zu lesen, und macht definitiv noch mehr Appetit auf eine wundervoll-verrückte Nacht. Und wenn das, was er am Ende meint, wirklich passiert, bin ich dabei, und wenn es auf dem Mars stattfinden sollte!
"I was surprised by how many uptempo songs I wrote. In fact, there's probably two we left off the albumsongs. [...] I look back on Rock of the Westies, which is probably the most uptempo record we did, I wrote them then, but it's been a long time since I've actually made a band record that sounds like a rock & roll record. [...] One of the songs we left off was called "Children Saw." It's a beautiful song, but [...] we decided to leave it off, which was a shame because I love the lyrics so much. [I think a song like "Claw Hammer" will really work in a big venue.] Absolutely. We're rehearsing them in January and we're gonna launch the album in Paris at the Olympia Theater, and we'll see how many album tracks we can squeeze into our set. [...] I think three or four of them will sit inside the set. It's great to go into rehearsals with a whole new album full of material you can't wait to try out on an audience. [...] I will do it (i.e. solo acoustic shows) again someday. [...] I love the energy from new music, the adrenaline that you get when you're playing your own music. [...] There are so many of my songs that I think are greater songs than the songs that went popular. We're gonna make a list and maybe do a program about them. [...] I go through my albums because I can't remember all the songs myself and I think, "God, that was a great song. Why don't I play that?" There are different songs on different albums. "Pinky," for example, on Caribou. "I Feel Like a Bullet (in the Gun of Robert Ford)" on Rock of the Westies, "Cage the Songbird" on Blue Moves. [...] One day, if I get the chance, I'll sit down and do a concert full of songs like that."
Bemerkenswert finde ich, dass ROTW mehrfach erwähnt wird, denn es heißt doch immer, Elton könne sich nicht mehr an dieses Album bzw. dessen umnebelte Aufnahme erinnern. Allerdings ist ausgerechnet "Robert Ford" nicht aus dem Holz geschnitzt wie offenbar "Claw Hammer", sondern passt wohl eher in ein Solokonzert, das Elton sich glücklicherweise wieder vorstellen mag.
Absolute Zustimmung; in jeglicher Hinsicht ein großartiges Interview (weniger zu empfehlen sind die Kommentare, von denen einige einfach nur selten dämlich sind)!! Da springt einem der Enthusiasmus regelrecht ins Gesicht, und man weiß ja gar nicht, über was man als erstes schnappatmen soll. Wollen wir hoffen, dass die neuen Stücke super ankommen beim Publikum; vielleicht so gut, dass sich Elton gar dazu entschließt, aufzustocken. :)

Kindersäge. Wer weiß, worum es da ging. Um das Handwerkerset für die lieben Kleinen von Stihl? Oder einen Psychopathen, der die lieben Kleinen zersägt? (OK, das wäre eher ein Alice Cooper-Thema, ich komm da immer durcheinander *ggg*) Generell könnte ich mir denken, da auch "Hey Ahab" gut genug ankam, dass die flotteren Sachen tatsächlich bessere Chancen haben. Merkwürdig bei einem Publikum, das doch scheinbar zu einem großen Teil nur wegen der Balladen kommt.

Hör's mir grad an, das komplette Ding, und was soll man dazu sagen..HAMMMER, bin restlos begeistert und gefällt mir NOCH besser als Looking Up!!! Starker Rhythmus, phänomenales Piano (DIESES SOLO!!), einfach ein Hammerlied. Etwas Negatives hat's aber doch: Mit gut 3 Minuten ist der Song viiiel zu kurz. So, wie soll man da jetzt auf den Lichtjahre-entfernten 05. Februar abwarten können, ohne komplett durchzudrehen?!??!? Okay, gleich nochmal anhören :)

Endlich daheim, kauf mir das Ding sofort über amazon-Download, und was ist? Irgendwie hakt die Seite, und ich kriege diese verdammichte Datei nicht runter geladen !!! Amazon, rück den Elton raus! Ich bin das Volk!
Und um das Maß voll zu machen, kriege ich momentan das Video auch nicht auf. Isses denn zu fassen? Alles andere funktioniert, nur keine Möglichkeit, dieses Lied zu hören. Nachdem ich auch bei Looking Up schon solche Probleme hatte, bis ich das Ganze endlich mal hören durfte, fange ich langsam an, das persönlich zu nehmen. :/
Eben direkt bei Vevo versucht, und da bekomme ich folgende Nachricht: "Hoppla! Dieses Video kann leider nicht gestreamt werden. Wir haben aber jede Menge anderer Videos, da ist bestimmt etwas für Dich dabei!"
Ääh, geht die Scheiße bei denen jetzt auch los? Das kann doch nur ein schlechter Scherz sein!
