Our show on 21 June 2012 in Derry/Londonderry is the opening event of the London 2012 Festival, and marks the three-month countdown to the Global Truce.
21 September 2012, Peace Day: A day of Global Truce POD Celebration 2012
The final show will take place in the Olympic Stadium (venue in final negotiations) on Peace Day 21 September 2012, the day of Global Truce. Elton John will headline and the event will serve as an opportunity to highlight Global Truce activities globally. All shows in conjunction with the Cultural Olympiad will be broadcast around the world.
Undoubtedly one of the biggest artists in the world, Elton John and his band will bring their unforgettable live show to Chesterfield for one special night next summer.
The concert will take place at the B2net Stadium, home of Chesterfield Football Club on Saturday 9 June 2012. The fully reserved seated concert will give thousands of fans the opportunity to dance and sing along to his much-loved songs.
Elton John said: “Music is a wonderful gift and I feel very privileged to be able to share this with so many people around the world. I am thrilled that at long last I can bring my show to Chesterfield, I have never had the chance to play in this town before so I am excited to be the first performer to play at this fabulous stadium.”
Elton will become the first ever artist to play the B2net Stadium. Chesterfield FC chairman Barrie Hubbard said: “This is not only a big first for Chesterfield Football Club but is a first for the town as well. Our new B2net Stadium is really living up to its billing as North Derbyshire’s premier entertainment venue and we are absolutely delighted that Elton John has agreed to include it as part of his World tour.
“I can’t think of a better way to celebrate the full completion of the stadium next year, with the addition of all the community facilities, than by holding such an eye-catching event.”
