Top Psychologist Salutes Sir Elton On The Way He Handled Baby News Top child psychologist DR. FRAN WALFISH has congratulated SIR ELTON JOHN and DAVID FURNISH on their Christmas baby, insisting they'll make great parents.
Walfish, the author of new book The Self-Aware Parent: Resolving Conflict and Building A Better Bond with Your Child, salutes the couple on its decision to keep the pregnancy and the identity of the surrogate top secret - and she hopes the media will respect the Rocket Man's privacy as he tackles fatherhood for the first time.
Little Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John was born on Christmas Day(25Dec10) and Sir Elton and Furnish waited until Monday (27Dec10) to announce the happy news.
Dr. Walfish says, "They are already positioning their family with a surrounding wall of privacy and protection. They have laid the first layer of bricks and mortar as foundation for shielding for their son.
"These parents have taken their first steps to normalise the childhood of little Zachary. It's hard enough parenting a child. The challenge of parenting under the scrutiny of public judgmental opinion increase complications for both child and parents. Good job, Elton and David!"
And she warns bigots who may question whether two gay men can give a child everything he or she needs to keep their thoughts to themselves - because in her experience more and more kids are being brought up by gay or lesbian parents.
She adds, "Each classroom where I have expert consulted in private schools has at least one family where the constellation consists of a gay couple, male or female, and their child or children.
"Research suggests that they turn out about the same, no better, no worse and no more likely to be gay than other kids. My professional clinical experience is that gay parents have the same challenges that heterosexual parents do. They must balance loving and nurturing their child with setting and following-through on clear boundaries."
It was speculated that David, 48, provided the sperm for the surrogacy because he is younger than Elton, 63, but it is John who has been recorded as the boy's dad at the register office in Los Angeles.
It has been reported that the birth may have cost the couple up to £646,000 in fees and payments to everyone involved.

Nun ja, diese Summe ist auf jeden Fall wieder mal ne Erfindung. Woher wollen die das wissen?
Das Elton als Vater eingetragen ist, muss eigentlich auch nichts heißen....... Die einzige sichere Aussage darüber könnte sowieso nur er selber machen. Zumal es nicht mal sicher ist, ob er es selber weiß. Da gibt es auch die Möglichkeit, es dem "Zufall" zu überlassen. Im selben Artikel, in dem steht Elton sei als Vater eingetragen, steht auch das hier:

Es würde mich echt auch interessieren, wer es denn nun ist aber solange sie es nicht selbst sagen wird man es nicht wirklich wissen.......

Ein Nahestehender von Furnish erklärt gegenüber „The Sun“: „Er und Elton haben einen Pakt geschlossen, dass sie gleichwertige Eltern sind - niemand wird je erfahren, wer der biologische Vater ist. Sie werden erst in einigen Jahren darüber nachdenken, ob sie es Zachary sagen, sollte sich die Frage ergeben.“
Der 63-jährige Sänger soll sich derweil jedoch gewünscht haben, der leibliche Vater des Kindes zu werden - obwohl Furnish der idealere Samenspender sei, da er jünger ist.
Ein Freund des Paares sagt: „Elton hat klargemacht, dass er seine Linie fortsetzen will, hat aber auch eingesehen, dass ein jüngerer Mann der angemessenere Samenspender ist. Es ist eine sehr komplizierte Angelegenheit, wenn auch eine, die durch Liebe zustande gekommen ist.“
Berichten zufolge ist John auf Zacharys Geburtsurkunde als Vater aufgeführt, während Furnish als Mutter angegeben wurde.
Naja, wenn Elton & David nicht verraten wollen, wer der Vater ist, wird man wohl abwarten müssen, bis Zachary etwas älter ist. Dann kann man vielleicht sehen, welche Gene in ihm stecken. Egal, Hauptsache der kleine Kerl ist gesund und Elton & David sind happy! Auf RTL wurde heute sogar spekuliert, dass eine gute Freundin der beiden die biologische Mutter sein könnte.

Nach der anfänglich sachlichen Berichterstattung wird jetzt in den Medien hin und her spekuliert, was das Zeug hält, und weil's nichts Offizielles gibt, werden irgendwelche Summen genannt und die lieben Sources/Insider als Informanten herangezogen (wenn man diesen "Insidern" Glauben schenken würde, hätte Elton schon vor einem Jahr ein Kind adoptiert..). Hauptsache ist doch, dem Kleinen geht's gut und dass Elton und David glücklich sind. UND natürlich (auch wenn's egoistisch klingt), dass Elton weiter Musik macht;)
Da fragt man sich, ob das wirklich so ein "guter Freund" ist, wenn er seine Klappe nicht halten kann und alles ausplaudert. Aber ich habe ehrlich gesagt auch vermutet, dass Klein-Zachary noch ein Geschwisterchen bekommt und das wäre gut! Ich kann das noch immer kaum fassen.....unser Elton ist Papa geworden!!!! Er singt bestimmt bei jedem Konzert "Levon" und der Song hat jetzt eine ganz neue Bedeutung für ihn.

Elton and David are already thinking about a brother or sister for one-week-old Zachary, says the Daily Mail.
The couple’s son Zachary was born only a week ago, on Christmas Day, but friends say the pair have already discussed adding to their family. Elton and David are considering plans to become parents to a second child. They say that David – who has two brothers, Peter and John – is particularly keen for Zachary to have a brother or sister. And 2013 has already been pencilled in as a possible date for the new arrival.
One friend said: "Elton and David are both revelling in parenthood. They feel that it has been a true blessing in their lives. David, in particular, now wants more children. As one of three brothers himself, he believes it is important that Zachary is not an only child. He and Elton have already been discussing it and David, especially, believes they should not wait too long."
It is believed that Elton and David have been pleased with the service provided by the Center for Surrogate Parenting (CSP) in Encino, California, which arranged the birth. As a result, it is likely that the same firm would be used for a future child. Zachary was born with the donor egg of one woman before a different woman acted as surrogate.
According to CSP, couples often use the same surrogate and donor combination again for a second child, so that the second one is still biologically related to the first, even if the other man’s sperm is used. Also, in high-profile cases, if the surrogate has maintained confidentiality then celebrities would regard her as even less of a risk the second time.
As the Daily Mail revealed, Elton has been recorded as the father at the local register office in Los Angeles – with David as the mother in computer documents, according to an official. The Mail has now also been told the birth of Zachary was as much as two and a half years in the planning.
Elton and David are believed to have been discussing having a child via a surrogate mother since 2008. Elton, at least, seemed to be showing the strain of being a new father as he and David joined fellow pop star Sting and his wife, film producer Trudie Styler, at a house party in LA’s Hollywood Hills suburb. Observers said that Sir Elton appeared somewhat worn out as he attended the bash.
